So the sages say, "if you aren't paying for it, you're the product." I really enjoy bear blog, and I really wanted to try a custom domain. I'm giving premium a try. I always have trouble coming up with a name for myself, but I liked this idea as soon as I had it.
Meadowfoam is a plant native to my region. I first encountered it at honey stand at the farmer's market. "Try it, it tastes like toasted marshmallows," said the person at the stand. Sure it do-- oh my god it does this is amazing, I thought. I think it's a pleasing word to say.
.ing as in "foaming" as in "foamer":

- (US, slang, sometimes derogatory) Someone with a special interest in a particular topic, usually obsessive.
I don't agree with Wiktionary that the term is derogatory. I want to use this space that is mine to share the things I am excited about, to remind myself to make the active choice to do so.
I've also updated the look of this page. I bought a layout from itinerae with the intention of making a static site, but I keep coming to the conclusion that most of what I want is just to have a blog. I'm going to continue to noodle with it, but I'm happy enough with it to show off a little bit. (First order of business is to figure out why the italic version of this font isn't rendering correctly. I love the friendly like cursive bits in Maple Mono).
Lastly, a bit of nostalgia for you. I watched the classic Youtube duet: Miles Davis improvising on LCD Soundsystem the other day. I remember thinking this era of MacOS looked so luxurious. The look is absolutely an inspiration for this site.
